The KPAM "New Year New You" Contest

How to Enter and How Winner is Selected

  • Contest begins December 26, 2016, and ends January 19, 2017.
  • To enter the contest, contestants must visit News/Talk 860 KPAM’s website at  and click on the prize they are interested.  
  • After clicking on a prize, Contestants must fill out at least one (1) vendor survey. At the end of the survey, contestants will have the opportunity to opt-in or opt-out of further contact from vendors.
  • By opting-in, contestants consent and agree to receive information and solicitations from the vendor(s) they submitted the survey(s).
  • By opting-out, contestants still participate in the contest, but will not receive information and solicitations from the vendor(s) they submitted the survey(s).
  • Contestants guarantee that entries submitted via email are made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. The authorized account holder is the person who is assigned to the email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning email address or the domain associated with the submitted email address.
  • One (1) entry per person per vendor prize.
  • Entries must be received by 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time on January 19, 2017.
  • On January 20, 2017, independent representatives of Presslaff Interactive Revenue, located at 2377 Crenshaw Blvd., Suite 155, Torrance, CA 90501 will select at random, from among all the valid entries, one (1) prize winner per each vendor prize.
  • From January 23-27, 2017, News/Talk 860 KPAM will announce the winners on-air between 6:00am and 6:00pm Pacific Standard Time. Remaining valid entries will not carry over to other contests.
  • Tie-breaking procedures are not applicable in this contest.



  • Contestants must be eighteen (18) years or older at the time their name is selected to win.  Winner will be required to show proof of identity, including address, phone number, and/or date of birth when prize is claimed at News/Talk 860 KPAMNews/Talk 860 KPAM reserves the right to resolve confusion in identity through other reasonable means.
  • Contest participants must live within one (100) mile radius of News/Talk 860 KPAM, located at 6605 SE Lake Road, Portland, OR 97222 and must be able to pick up the prize in person.
  • Eligible contest participants can only win this contest once every sixty (60) days and a prize valued at $600.00 or more only once every six (6) months.
  • Only one (1) winner per household is permitted in this contest.
  • Employees of News/Talk 860 KPAM, Pamplin Communications, their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, sponsoring clients, Presslaff Interactive Revenue, advertisers or prize providers, their licensees or agents, and their families are not eligible to enter to win any News/Talk 860 KPAM contest.
  • No purchase necessary. Making a purchase does not improve chances of winning.  
  • This contest is void where prohibited.


  • One (1) winner per vendor will receive the prize from that participating vendor valued at a minimum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00).
  • A total of 10 prizes will be given away in this contest.
  • Participating vendors provide the prizes in exchange for sponsorship and promotional consideration.
  • Eligibility to win the prizes is non-transferable and may not be substituted, sold or exchanged for cash, goods or services.
  • Winner will have thirty (30) days from date of notification to accept prize or prize will be forfeited. No alternate winner will be selected. Prizes will not be mailed.
  • Winner must complete a News/Talk 860 KPAM Winner Sheet and Release form, which includes winner’s name, address, phone number, and social security number for tax purposes only.
  • Winner is responsible for claiming all taxes, including state and federal income taxes, on contest prizes.  A 1099-MISC must be filed when the prize or aggregate of prizes exceed Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) during a calendar year for a particular winner.

Winners’ Obligations:

  • Winner consents to use his/her name, likeness, voice or any other representation by News/Talk 860 KPAM for editorial, advertising and publicity purposes (except where prohibited) including any trade publications release or website posting discussing winner’s involvement in the contest.
  • Winner guarantees that winner is eligible to win and understands that News/Talk 860 KPAM may forfeit any prize for which winner is ineligible.
  • Winner must comply with all contest rules as published by News/Talk 860 KPAM or aired on News/Talk 860 KPAM.
  • All expenses not specifically mentioned herein are solely winner’s responsibility.
  • Before claiming the prize, winner must sign a Waiver and Release of Liability agreeing to release and indemnify News/Talk 860 KPAM, Pamplin Communications, their parent company, subsidiaries, affiliates, sponsoring clients, advertisers or prize providers, their licensees or agents from any and all liability related to injuries or damages of any kind that may be sustained by winner or third parties in connection with the prize or from failure of the winner to follow proper procedures while claiming the prize.


Station’s Privileges:

  • All contests may be revised, withdrawn, concluded, extended or modified instantly without prior notification.
  • All contest rules are subject to change.  Once the contest begins, News/Talk 860 KPAM will announce any changes to the contest rules as soon as possible.
  • News/Talk 860 KPAM is not responsible for malfunctions or failure of the equipment used as part of the contest; lost, late, or misdirected entries, printing errors; or any other malfunction.
  • News/Talk 860 KPAM reserves the right to void contest winner’s prize claim in the event of fraud, collusion, tampering, deception or other similar malfeasance.
  • News/Talk 860 KPAM reserves the right to void all entries received that are duplicate, mutilated, tampered with, incorrect, illegible, or from ineligible entrants. All entries become the property of News/Talk 860 KPAM and will not be acknowledged or returned.

Choice of Law:

All issues and questions related to the Stations’ contests will be governed by the laws of Oregon without regard to the conflicts of law principles.

Official rules will be made available at and as well as in the News/Talk 860 KPAM offices during regular business hours.  Mail, phone, fax, or email requests for official rules will be responded to via First Class U.S. Mail.
